About Me

Dear Local Voter,

I would like to ask for your vote in November, but first I want to share my background so you can better understand who I am and why I am right for this position.

My name is Kurt Collins and I am a lifelong resident of North Carolina. But I am not just a resident; I have a true passion for and love the State I call home. I was born and raised in Mount Airy, NC by my hard working parents Mack and Patsy Collins. I have an older brother and sister, both of whom reside in the state. My passion for North Carolina and the political arena started early in life. I attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC where I received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Business Law. I was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and served as Parliamentarian. I also served as a Senator in student government and was a member of Phi Beta Lambda business fraternity.

Over the course of the next several years I lived in various areas across the state pursuing my career including Rockingham County, Surry County, Greensboro and High Point. I currently reside in Jamestown with my wonderful wife Jessica and our two rescue cats.

My work experience is largely based in the financial, mortgage and real estate arenas. I currently work as an Underwriter for a mortgage insurance company in Greensboro, NC. Additionally, I am self-employed as a REALTOR® and licensed in real estate, life and health insurance, Medicare supplement/long term care insurance and personal lines insurance.

I am a graduate of the Institute of Political Leadership and the Greensboro City Academy. I am also an active member of the National Association of REALTORS®, the North Carolina Association of REALTORS® and the High Point Association of REALTORS®. I have previously been involved with and served on a variety of commissions including the Human Relations Commission (HRC) for the City of Greensboro, the Complaint Review Committee (CRC) which reviews citizen complaints against the police department and several young professional organizations.

As I mentioned previously, North Carolina is more than just a home, it is my passion. My wife and I enjoy all that NC has to offer and even made the State and its local products a theme of our wedding. I have lived here my entire life, and can bring a hometown, unique perspective to the seat for which I am running. I want only the best for NC and the residents of District 60. I want this to be a special place to live for the remainder of my life and for generations to come.

Thank you for letting me share a little about myself. I hope to earn your vote in the November election.
